Chapter 9 - A New FoundationOne year after the trial.

The morning sun broke over the Paradise Valley mountains, painting the desert landscape in brilliant shades of gold, rose, and deep violet.

The air was fresh, filled with the sweet fragrance of blooming jasmine and citrus blossoms.

In the courtyard of the newly established Natalie Vance Foundation for Cancer Patient Advocacy in downtown Phoenix, over two hundred doctors, donors, and survivors gathered for the grand opening ceremony.

Using the recovered funds from the estate sales and a major corporate grant from my solar firm, Natalie and I had built a state-of-the-art facility providing free oncology biopsies, legal protection, emergency housing, and medical transportation for low-income cancer patients across Arizona.

Natalie stood at the glass podium in the center of the courtyard, wearing an elegant emerald dress, her dark hair now grown into a stunning shoulder-length style.

The crowd erupted into a roaring standing ovation as she finished her keynote address.

I stood in the front row alongside Samuel Sterling and Dr. Clara Martinez, holding a large bouquet of white roses.

As the applause echoed through the open courtyard, Natalie stepped down from the podium, walking directly past news cameras and city officials, straight into my arms.

I pulled her tight against my heart, smelling the clean desert breeze in her hair.
