Chapter 6 - The Unsealed Leather FolderMiranda turned to her lead bodyguard, who immediately handed her a sleek black leather folder.

Derek looked up at the folder with wide, terrified eyes. âMiranda... what is that?â
âYou invited me here to see what success looks like, Derek,â Miranda said softly, unzipping the folder. âI came to show you what justice looks like.â
She pulled out a certified stack of forensic audit documents and handed them directly to the lead detective from the Financial Crimes Unit, who had just stepped into the courtyard accompanied by two state troopers.
âMr. Cole,â the detective announced loudly, stepping up to the kneeling groom. âWe have an active federal warrant for your arrest regarding the six hundred thousand dollars you siphoned from Hail Communicationsâ operational reserves into an offshore account.â
Vanessa gasped aloud, covering her mouth in horror. âHe stole six hundred thousand dollars from my company?!â
âHe didn't just steal from your company, Miss Hail,â Franklin Mercer added, pulling out a second document. âHe used your corporate credentials to pledge fake collateral for a two-million-dollar personal loan.â
Derek collapsed forward onto his hands and knees on the paved stones, weeping bitterly, his arrogant world completely dissolving into public ruin.
The state troopers stepped forward, grabbing Derekâs arms, pulling him up from the ground, and snapping heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists over his pristine white tuxedo sleeves.

âMiranda! Please! Tell them to stop!â Derek screamed frantically as officers dragged him down the red carpet aisle toward a waiting police cruiser. âIâm your husband! Please give me a second chance!â
Miranda didn't answer him. She didn't yell. She simply adjusted her beige handbag, turned her back, and walked away.
