Chapter 7 - The Stand at the HospitalAt 7:30 p.m., police units moved to St. Judeâs Hospital, where Maria Alvarez was recovering under heavy medical surveillance.
Denise Porter was caught in the intensive care corridor, attempting to slip into Mariaâs room while carrying a modified visitorâs badge. When she saw two detective units blocking the exit, she turned and sprinted toward the parking garage.
âDenise Porter! Stop right there!â Detective Torres shouted.
Two undercover officers blocked the exit ramp, forcing Denise against the concrete wall.
CLICK-CLACK.
The steel handcuffs snapped around her wrists in full view of the hospital staff and news cameras that had gathered to report on the miracle rescue of the schoolchildren.

âYour brother is currently being detained by the FBI at his estate, Ms. Porter,â Torres replied coldly.
