Chapter 10 - A Whole Life to LiveOne year later.

The autumn sun set golden and magnificent over the coastal waters of Blue Harbor, Maine.

The hill behind the lighthouse was decorated with delicate white orchids, lilies, and red maple leaves that blanketed the grass like a royal carpet.

Standing on the porch of the timber house, surrounded by fifty townsfolk, my mother, and the ocean breeze, was a moment written in grace.

I stood before Owen wearing a breathtaking, high-low lace gown decorated with delicate pink floral embroidery, my long brown hair falling in soft waves over my shoulders.

Owen knelt before me on one knee in his tailored dark suit, holding an open velvet box containing an exquisite gold ring set with a clear diamond.

Tears of pure, overwhelming joy spilled down my cheeks as I looked down at the man who had rebuilt my world from ashes.

“Claire Lawson,” Owen spoke into the warm sunset breeze, his voice rich with deep, eternal love, “Will you do me the honor of marrying me under the maple tree?”

I covered my face with my hands, letting out a joyful, tearful laugh, my heart overflowing with unshakeable peace.

“Yes, Owen!” I wept happily. “Yes!”

The crowd erupted into thunderous applause as Owen slipped the ring onto my finger, standing up to pull me into a passionate, tender embrace beneath the falling red leaves.

Far out over the water, the lighthouse beam swung in its slow, patient arc, lighting up the harbor under the clear evening sky.

The storm was over. The ashes were gone, the light had returned, and on the hill behind the lighthouse, a whole, magnificent life was born to flourish forever.
