Chapter 13 - A Confrontation of Faith

Noah invited Charles to the original Miller's Bakery in Kentucky, away from the glass walls and air-conditioned silence of the executive suite. The shop was busy; the smell of fresh yeast filled the morning air, and children were picking up warm rolls from the counter. Noah placed the 1978 legal document on a wooden table between two mugs of black coffee.
Charles looked down at his father's signature, his face draining of color. "You brought me here to destroy me," Charles whispered, his voice defensive. Noah shook his head. "I brought you here to show you why your father failed to take this building, Charles. He saw land value. Samuel Miller saw human value. Your father tried to buy the building, but Walter bought the dream. I’m not going to leak this paper. I’m asking you to help me build what your father couldn't understand." Charles stared at Noah for a long moment before slowly bowing his head.
