Chapter 14 - THE MOVE|

Don Hector grabbed the leather folder, his hands trembling as he scanned the figures Beatrice had laid out.
“You son of a bitch,” Hector growled, turning his terrifying gaze toward Marco. “You tried to hand my family to the feds?!”
“She’s lying!” Marco screamed, panicking as he backed toward the door. “She’s an accountant! She makes up numbers!”
“I don't make up numbers, Marco,” Beatrice said coldly, taking a slow step forward. “I track them. And your offshore account in Panama just closed twenty minutes ago because I flagged it with the international banking commission.”
Marco let out an enraged shriek, swinging his gun away from Leo and pointing it directly at Beatrice’s chest.
“I’ll kill you, you bitch!” Marco roared.
CRACK.
A single gunshot echoed through the high-ceilinged office.
It didn't come from Marco's gun.

Arthur had drawn a heavy tactical pistol from beneath his desk, firing a single round that struck Marco’s shoulder, sending him crashing backward against the glass wall.
In the same split second, Arthur vaulted over the wide mahogany desk, grabbing Beatrice around the waist and pulling her small frame behind his heavy body as gunfire erupted in the hallway.
