Chapter 2 - The Envelope Noah FoundNoah discovered the envelope behind a loose panel in the library.
Inside were payment records, handwritten notes, and an unsigned letter from his late mother, Miriam. She had created the foundation to support children receiving long-term hospital care.
The records showed large payments to Bright Horizon Interiors, a company supposedly renovating family rooms in three hospitals.
Noah recognized the name.
Bright Horizon had also renovated Olivia’s private dressing room and the mansion’s guest wing.
He carried the envelope upstairs to show Grace, but Olivia saw it in his hand. She ordered him into the bedroom and demanded to know whether he had found more documents.
Noah refused to answer.
Olivia lit the lighter and held it near the envelope, saying she would burn the last words his mother ever wrote. When he still remained silent, she moved the flame toward his hair to frighten him.
