Chapter 10 - I Bought the Restaurant That Fired Me

With recovered distributions, I did not buy yacht.

I bought building containing restaurant where I worked.

Not restaurant itself initially.

Landlord planned sell. I acquired property through small company and gave tenants stable leases.

Dennis discovered during negotiation.

His face was extraordinary.

“Rue?”

“Yes.”

“You own building?”

“Twenty-two percent of warehouses teaches weird skills.”

“Are you firing us?”

“I’m landlord, not manager.”

He looked relieved.

“Although maybe stop sharing employee schedules with strangers.”

His face collapsed.

Good.

Later restaurant owners offered sell business.

I bought it with two senior servers and chef as partners.

Renamed it Callaway Table.

Rule: staff meals free, schedules private, emergency transportation fund available after late shifts.

No server would miss bus and have no safe option.

Ironically, missing mine saved Belle.

But luck should not be labor policy.

Harlan invested nothing because I refused.

He became loyal customer anyway.

Tip: absurd.

I returned it.

He doubled.

I threatened ban.

Belle negotiated ten percent.
