Chapter 5 - The Booking RequestOn a crisp October morning, Daniel sat in his corner office on the top floor of the Reyes Building, reviewing quarterly financial reports.

His executive assistant, Sarah, knocked gently on the door frame before stepping inside, carrying a leather booking file.
âMr. Reyes,â Sarah spoke, setting the file on his desk. âWe received an urgent high-tier reservation request for Lakeview Hall for next month. The client is requesting the main ballroom for a Saturday evening engagement party.â
Daniel glanced at the file without picking it up. âIs there an issue with the date?â
âNo, sir,â Sarah replied. âThe date is available due to a recent cancellation. But the client is insisting on a fifty-percent corporate discount, claiming their family name warrants preferred status.â
Daniel raised an eyebrow, picking up the application sheet.
His eyes scanned the name at the top of the letterhead:
CLIENT: VICTORIA WHITFIELD & EVELYN WHITFIELD. EVENT: ENGAGEMENT PARTY FOR EVELYN WHITFIELD & JULIAN VANCE.
Daniel sat in silence for a long moment, his thumb tracing the edge of the paper.
Over the last five years, the Whitfield familyâs fortune had quietly dissolved. Mr. Whitfield had suffered massive losses in foreign currency markets, and their family construction firm was currently facing severe liquidity shortages. They were desperately attempting to maintain their high-society image by marrying Evelyn off to Julian Vanceâthe heir to a wealthy regional banking family.
They had no idea that Reyes Development Group owned Lakeview Hall. They assumed it was owned by an out-of-state corporate conglomerate.
Sarah looked at Daniel, noticing his sudden quietness. âShould I reject the booking, Mr. Reyes? Their financial background check flagged two late vendor payments from last season.â
Daniel set the file down, a subtle, cold smile touching his lips.
âNo, Sarah,â Daniel said softly. âApprove the booking. Waive the deposit entirely, and give them the main ballroom.â
May you like
Sarah blinked in surprise. âWaive the deposit, sir?â
âYes,â Daniel replied, leaning back in his leather chair. âAnd tell my event team that I will personally oversee the setup for Miss Whitfieldâs party.â
