Chapter 14 - The Wedding With No Hayes Money

We married in botanical garden outside Phoenix.

Seventy guests.

No Hayes funding.

Vivian attended quietly.

Trevor came because Oliver wanted both parents there.

Some friends thought strange.

It wasn’t.

He sat near aisle with Oliver before ceremony then handed him to my sister.

When I passed Trevor, he whispered, “You look happy.”

“I am.”

“Good.”

That single word closed something.

Daniel vows included no forever fantasy.

He promised transparency, partnership, laughter, and “never hiding credit-card balances.”

Everyone laughed except Naomi who applauded.

My vows were simpler.

“I spent years believing security came from staying where everything looked stable. I learned security is knowing I can leave and still choose to stay. I choose you.”

Daniel cried.

After ceremony Vivian danced with Oliver.

Trevor danced once with mother.

Ruth danced with everyone.

No one owned room.

That was difference.
