Chapter 28 - Uncovering the DeceptionWhile the children slept peacefully, Mark sat in the adjoining room with his lawyer, Miller.

"We checked Kate's bank accounts," Miller said, pushing a stack of financial documents across the table. "She didn't just abuse them, Mark. She was systematically stealing from Emily’s life insurance policy and the children's trust funds."
Mark scrolled through the pages. Hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on designer bags, luxury spa treatments, and overseas trips—all while she fed his children leftovers and locked them in the cellar.
"She kept sending you fake photos and updates," Miller continued. "She used old pictures of the kids smiling to make you think everything was fine while you were traveling for work."
