Chapter 8 - The Boardroom ReckoningThe next morning, the high-rise headquarters of Crestwood Holdings was buzzing with anxiety.

Victor Crestwood, a silver-haired man in a ten-thousand-dollar suit, sat at the head of his boardroom table, frantically pacing as his phone rang continuously without an answer.
“Where are they?” Crestwood roared at his assistant. “Why hasn't the extraction team confirmed the transfer of the Mercer shares?!”
The double doors of the boardroom suddenly burst open.
Margot Callaway walked into the room. She was breathtaking. She wore an emerald-green silk dress, her blonde hair styled flawlessly, her posture radiating absolute power.
Beside her walked Flynn Delaney. He was no longer wearing his faded flannel shirt. He wore a perfectly tailored dark charcoal suit that accentuated his broad shoulders and commanding presence. Behind them walked six federal agents carrying official seizure warrants.
Crestwood went pale, stumbling back against his chair. “Margot... what is the meaning of this?”
“The meaning, Victor,” Margot said, her voice dripping with ice, “is that your little midnight raid on my home failed.”
Margot threw a thick dossier onto the boardroom table.
“Inside that folder,” Margot announced loudly for all of Crestwood’s board members to hear, “is the forensic evidence proving you authorized illegal wire transfers to hire offshore mercenaries. Furthermore, it contains documents showing your firm has been insolvent for six months.”
Crestwood’s eyes darted wildly toward Flynn. “Who the hell are you? One of her high-priced bodyguards?!”
Flynn stepped forward, placing both hands flat on the mahogany table and leaning in close to Crestwood’s face.
“My name is Captain Flynn Delaney,” Flynn said in a low, dangerous tone that made the billionaire shudder. “And the man you paid three million dollars to organize that hit was my former operative. He turned your money over to the FBI three hours ago.”
Crestwood fell into his chair, completely broken as the federal agents stepped forward to place him in handcuffs.
Margot turned to the remaining board members of Crestwood Holdings, her eyes blazing with triumphant intelligence.
“Effective immediately,” Margot declared, “Callaway Capital has executed a hostile takeover of Crestwood Holdings’ remaining assets. The Mercer acquisition is complete.”

As the agents led Crestwood away in chains, Margot looked over at Flynn. He was watching her with a quiet pride in his eyes.
For the first time, Margot realized that she didn't just respect this man—she was falling deeply, helplessly in love with him.
