Chapter 12 - THE BOY WHO SAVED THE BABY AGAINEli moved before anyone else.

He stepped toward Cross.
“Put him down.”
Cross looked at him.
For the first time, his expression changed.
“You.”
Eli stared.
“You remember me.”
Cross said nothing.
Eli pointed at the device on Oliver's neck.
“That isn't connected properly.”
Cross's eyes narrowed.
“What?”
“The wire.”
Eli took another step.
“You put it on wrong.”
Cross looked down.
For a fraction of a second—
his attention moved.
That was enough.
Dr. Vell lunged.
James grabbed Oliver.
Anna pulled him away.
The device fell.
Cross ran.
Police entered from the other side.
Adrian Cross was arrested.
But the device had already activated.
Oliver stopped crying.
His body went still.
Anna screamed.
Dr. Vell grabbed him.
“Get me the emergency kit!”
The device had caused a neurological reaction.
Oliver's breathing weakened.
James looked at Eli.
“What do we do?”
Eli stared at the baby.
Then touched his own neck.
“Turn him.”
Dr. Vell looked at him.
“What?”
“Turn him sideways.”
“Why?”
“Lily did that.”
Dr. Vell hesitated.
Then followed the instruction.
Oliver suddenly gasped.
His breathing returned.
The doctor stared.
Eli had done it again.
He had remembered something no one else knew.
Dr. Vell looked at him.
“How?”
Eli shook his head.
“I don't know.”
But inside Eli's mind, something had changed.
He remembered the room.
Lily.
Cross.
And another child.
A boy.
The boy from Case 13.
The boy who had been taken away.
Eli suddenly whispered:
“He is alive.”
James turned.
“Who?”
“The other boy.”
“Where?”
Eli looked at Cross.
Adrian had been handcuffed.
He was smiling.
“You remembered.”
Eli stared.
“Where is he?”
Cross said nothing.
Eli stepped toward him.
“Where is he?”
Cross smiled.
“You already know.”
Eli's face became pale.
He touched his own head.
A memory returned.
A room.
A child.
A boy with the same eyes.
The same mark.
The same blood.
May you like
Eli whispered:
“He is my brother.”
