Chapter 10 - The Unwritten Future|

Six months later.
Spring had arrived in New York, blooming bright and green across Central Park.
Max stood near the park gates—the exact spot from the old photograph Lily had shown him at the airport. He wore simple jeans and a dark jacket, devoid of his usual Italian suits.
Down the paved path, eight-year-old Lily was laughing, running through the grass with a golden retriever puppy Max had adopted for her birthday.
Regina walked up beside Max, holding two cups of coffee from a nearby cart. She handed one to him, smiling warmly.
"She looks happy, Max," Regina said softly.
"She's healing," Max replied, watching his daughter run across the green lawn. "We both are."
Max had restructured Rochester Enterprises, stepping down as active CEO to take the role of Chairman, handing daily operations to Sarah and a newly appointed team. He spent his mornings taking Lily to school and his afternoons sitting in the park with her.
Lily ran back up to them, her cheeks rosy, holding the puppy securely in her arms.
"Look, Daddy!" she cheered, pointing to a blooming cherry blossom tree. "It matches my picture!"
Max dropped to one knee, wrapping his arm around her shoulders, pulling her close. He looked into her bright blue eyes—the mirror of his own—and felt a profound, unshakeable peace that no financial merger could ever offer.

"It sure does, Lily," Max smiled, kissing her forehead. "It sure does."
As the afternoon sun shone through the spring leaves, Maxwell Rochester knew his old empire was gone—and his real life had finally begun.
