Chapter 9 - THE NIGHT DANIEL DISAPPEARED AGAIN|

The warehouse erupted into chaos.
Dominic pushed Daniel behind a concrete pillar.
Luca pulled me toward the staircase.
"Stay down!"
Gunfire echoed through the building.
I could hear men shouting outside.
My brother was trembling.
I held his hand.
"Look at me. We're getting out."
He nodded.
But when I looked toward Luca, I saw blood spreading across his sleeve.
"You're hit!"
"It's nothing."
"Don't lie."
He pressed his hand against his arm.
Dominic appeared at the top of the staircase.
"Boss, we need to move!"
They led us through a maintenance corridor.
A black SUV waited outside.
We climbed inside.
The convoy sped away.
For several minutes, I held a towel against Luca's arm.
He watched me.
"You always seem to find blood."
"Perhaps you should stop collecting it."
He gave a short laugh.
Then he winced.
I cleaned the wound.
Daniel sat opposite us.
He looked at Luca carefully.
"Why are you helping my sister?"
Luca didn't look away from me.
"Because she shouldn't have to face this alone."
Daniel shook his head.
"That's not what I asked."
I gave my brother a warning look.
Luca answered anyway.
"Because I care about her."
The vehicle became quiet.
I continued wrapping his arm.
I didn't know what to say.
When we arrived at the mansion, Daniel was taken to a secure guest room.
I remained with Luca in the medical suite.
He watched me remove my gloves.
"You're angry."
"I'm frightened."
"Of me?"
"Of everything."
He looked down.
"I can't promise you that nobody will ever hurt you."
I met his eyes.
"Then promise you won't become the person hurting me."
He nodded.
"I can promise that."
Later, Dominic brought news.
The attackers had been hired by a company connected to Anthony's business partner.
But one of the captured men had revealed something worse.
Anthony was planning to move Daniel again.
This time, he wanted to send him overseas.
Graham—Luca—ordered additional protection around the mansion.
I went upstairs to check on Daniel.
His room was empty.
The window was open.
A chair had been placed beneath it.
I ran into the corridor.
"Daniel!"
Mrs. Bennett appeared.
"What happened?"
"He's gone!"
Security rushed upstairs.
The guards checked the grounds.
Nothing.
Then I noticed something on Daniel's pillow.
A small envelope.
Inside was a photograph of my father.
He was standing beside Anthony Russo.
On the back, someone had written:
YOUR BROTHER KNOWS WHAT YOUR FATHER DID. ASK HIM BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.
I stared at the words.
Because suddenly I remembered something Daniel had said in the warehouse.
May you like
He had not told me everything.
And whatever he was hiding might be the reason Anthony wanted him alive.
