Chapter 8 - The Eviction and Exposure

he police officers stepped forward, placing their hands on their utility belts. "Mr. and
Mrs. Sterling, you have fifteen minutes to gather your personal belongings and vacate the
premises. If you do not leave, you will be arrested for criminal trespass."
Patricia looked around the grand foyer, realizing for the first time that her reign of terror was
over. The luxury she had clung to, the status she had flaunted, and the control she had exerted over
my life had vanished in an instant. She began grabbing her shopping bags, crying tears of rage and
humiliation.
"This is a setup!" she screamed as she was escorted out the front door. "You’re a monster, Maya!
You ruined our family!"
Evan didn't scream. He walked out of the house like a dead man walking, carrying only his duffel
bag. As he passed me, he whispered, "I’m sorry, Maya. I’m so, so sorry."
I didn't look at him. I watched from the window as they were forced to walk down the long,
winding driveway in the hot sun, carrying their heavy designer bags because the town car driver had
already been instructed to leave them behind. It was a pathetic, humiliating sight, but it was nothing
compared to the pain my son had suffered in his tiny hospital crib.
But my revenge was not yet complete. That evening, I uploaded the high-definition security
footage from the nursery directly to social media. The video showed Patricia snatching my phone,
calling me hysterical, and stealing my credit card while my baby gasped for air in the background. It
showed Evan turning his back on his son and walking away. I captioned the video with a simple
sentence: "While they sipped cocktails in Maui, my son was fighting for his life. This is the true face of
the Sterling family."
The video went viral within hours. Millions of people shared it, expressing their absolute horror
and disgust. The Sterling family name, which Patricia had spent her entire life building into a brand
