Chapter 10 - THE MEETING THAT NEVER APPEARED ON THE CALENDAR| Simone Bellini had scheduled the family council meeting for Friday morning.

The official agenda described it as a routine review of Adriano's business responsibilities. The private agenda was different: two physicians would present concerns about his memory, the trust administrator would recommend a temporary transfer of authority, and the family council would vote on whether Adriano should continue managing the company's affairs.

Adriano had not authorized the meeting.

Marcus discovered it in a secondary calendar that had been created using his credentials.

The entry had been hidden from his main schedule.

"Someone is preparing to declare you incapacitated," Marcus said.

Adriano read the documents.

"If the council approves the transfer, who takes control?"

"Simone becomes temporary administrator. Valentina's uncle becomes chairman of the oversight committee."

"And how long can they retain authority?"

"Until an independent assessment is completed. That process could take months."

Adriano looked at the signatures.

The medical recommendation had been prepared by Dr. Ferro before he was interviewed.

The second physician was a consultant who had never examined Adriano.

The documentation was designed to make the decision appear legitimate.

"They planned this before Nina spoke to me," Adriano said.

Marcus nodded.

"The financial transfers began six months ago. The recent meeting is the final stage."

Adriano walked toward the window.

He had always believed power was lost through obvious mistakes: bad contracts, weak alliances, or careless decisions. Now he understood that the most dangerous betrayal was often the one made to look like reasonable administration.

"How many people know about the meeting?"

"At least six council members, Simone, Valentina, and both physicians."

"Then we'll let them attend."

Marcus looked surprised.

"Sir?"

"I want to hear them explain why a meeting I never approved is being held in my name."

He instructed his attorney to attend as an observer and quietly notified the relevant authorities that the meeting might involve fraudulent medical documentation and financial misconduct.

Then he called Nina.

She answered shyly.

"Hello, sir."

"I need to thank you again for your notebook."

"Did you find out what was wrong?"

"Yes. Someone has been interfering with my medical treatment and business records."

Nina thought carefully.

"Then you should check who changes things when you're not looking."

Adriano smiled faintly.

"That's exactly what we're doing."

Before ending the call, Nina added, "And don't drink anything you didn't watch someone make."

"I won't."

Afterward, Adriano removed every personal beverage from his office. He also instructed Marcus to install a temporary recording system with full legal documentation and independent oversight.

At 9:00 a.m. Friday, the family council assembled in the conference room.

Simone sat at the head of the table.

Valentina sat beside him.

Two physicians placed their reports before the chairman.

Adriano entered last.

The conversation stopped.

Simone recovered first.

"Adriano. We didn't expect you."

"That is becoming a familiar experience."

He took his seat.

"I understand this meeting concerns my ability to manage the company."

Simone folded his hands.

"We're concerned about your health."

"Then let's discuss the evidence."

He placed the laboratory report on the table.

Then he placed the forged meeting authorization beside it.

Finally, he opened Nina's notebook.

"Before we begin, I would like everyone to explain why a nine-year-old child noticed a pattern that my physician, assistant, and fiancée failed to report."

Valentina's face went pale.

Simone did not move.

But beneath the table, his hand tightened around a phone.

And Marcus, watching from the wall, saw the screen light up.
