Chapter 10 - The Beauty in the LightOne year after the courtroom victory.

The summer sun shone bright and golden over the rolling green gardens of the newly opened Evelyn Carter Foundation for Burn Survivors & Youth Empowerment in Ohio.

The multi-million-dollar facility provided state-of-the-art medical care, psychological counseling, and full university scholarships for young burn survivors across the nation.

The old pool house behind my grandfather’s farm had been torn down and replaced with a magnificent glass-and-timber botanical conservatory filled with blooming white lilies and sunflowers.

Over three hundred people—survivors, doctors, community leaders, and friends—gathered on the lawn for the center’s grand opening ceremony.

I stood on the stage wearing an exquisite white summer dress that showed my shoulders and arms, my skin radiant, my face glowing with unshakeable health, beauty, and inner peace.

Standing beside me on the stage, holding my hand tightly in his, was Noah.

Over the past year, Noah had proven his love every single day—working as the primary volunteer coordinator for the foundation, standing by my side through every medical conference, loving me with a quiet, fierce devotion that had healed every broken piece of my heart.

Noah looked down into my eyes, reaching into his pocket to pull out a simple, breathtaking diamond ring.

“Maya,” Noah spoke into the warm summer breeze, his voice rich with deep, eternal love, dropping onto one knee before the cheering crowd. “You taught me that true strength isn't living without scars—it’s standing in the light and showing the world how beautiful survival really is. Will you do me the honor of marrying me?”

Tears of pure, overwhelming joy spilled down my cheeks as I looked at the man who had learned to choose the truth.

“Yes, Noah!” I whispered, a radiant smile illuminating my face. “Yes!”

The entire crowd erupted into thunderous applause and cheers as Noah slipped the ring onto my finger, standing up to pull me into a passionate, tender kiss beneath the clear blue sky.

The heavy white bathrobes were gone forever. The locked doors were shattered, the wicked had fallen by their own greed, and out of the ashes of a tragic fire, a magnificent legacy of truth, love, and grace was born to light the world forever.
