Chapter 3

To heighten the revenge plot to its most bitter point, this scene needs to take place when the husband is completely broken. Below is the scene where the remorseful husband begs for mercy:

---

[Scene: Empty Office]

Four o'clock in the morning. I was packing up my last personal belongings at the office when the door burst open. Gone was his usual polished, arrogant demeanor; my husband rushed in, disheveled, his tie undone, his eyes bloodshot from lack of sleep and panic.

He knelt down at my feet, his hands, once capable of signing million-dollar contracts, now trembling as he clutched at the hem of my dress.

"Please... stop!" His voice was broken, devoid of any authority. "The accounts are frozen, partners have terminated contracts, employees are starting to quit... Everything is falling apart, Linh. If you withdraw your investment, the company will go bankrupt within the next 24 hours!"

I calmly tucked the notebook into my pocket, not bothering to look down at him.

"Are you begging me?" I asked, my voice light.

"I'm wrong, I'm really wrong!" he choked out, real tears streaming down his cheeks. "She was just a mistake, a moment of weakness... I can't lose this career, this is my life's work. Please, for the sake of our years of marriage, give me one last chance. I'll do anything, I'll end things with her immediately, I'll transfer all my shares to you!"

I laughed. My laughter echoed in the empty office, cold and sarcastic. I leaned down, lifted his chin, forcing him to look directly into my eyes, which had lost their usual composure.

"You say this is your life's work?" I whispered, each word like a needle piercing my heart. "When you used my money to buy her apartment, when you used my trust to build a facade of success, did you ever think about my dedication?"

He fell silent, only his gasps and choked sobs could be heard.

"Your regret now isn't because you love me or because you know you're wrong," I stood up straight, pushing his hand away from my dress. "You only regret that you're no longer in a position of power. You're not afraid of losing your wife, you're only afraid of losing the power I bestowed upon you."

I walked towards the door without looking back.

"Use the coming days to learn how to live with nothing, just like you were at the starting line before you met me," I said firmly. "Don't look for me anymore. From now on, all communication should be handled by my lawyer."

He cried out my name in despair, his voice lost in the silent building. I stepped outside, where the dawn was breaking. No more regret, no more sorrow. Only liberation remained.

The End.
