Chapter 10 - The Intersection|

The gray Mercedes accelerated down Mulberry Street, its engine screaming as Franco drove straight toward her.

Isabella didn't run this time. She knew she couldn't outrun a car on foot. She stood in the doorway, holding her tote bag tightly against her side, her chin lifted, staring directly at the approaching vehicle.

ROAR!

From the opposite end of Spring Street, a matte-black armored SUV slammed through the red light, its heavy steel bumper turning into the intersection at seventy miles an hour.

Dante’s car.

CRASH!

The black SUV broadsided the gray Mercedes with deafening force, sending Franco’s car spinning across the wet asphalt until it slammed sideways into a fire hydrant, spewing a geyser of white water into the morning air.

Metal groaned. Glass rained across the street.

The driver’s door of the armored SUV opened immediately.

Dante stepped out into the rain. He wasn't wearing his suit jacket anymore. His black shirt was unbuttoned at the collar, his dark hair soaked, his gray eyes blazing with a cold, psychotic fury.

He pulled a heavy tactical pistol from his shoulder holster, walking steadily toward the wrecked Mercedes.

Franco dragged himself out through the broken driver’s window, blood dripping from his forehead, reaching for his fallen weapon on the pavement.

Dante didn't hesitate. He stepped on Franco’s hand, crushing his fingers against the asphalt until the enforcer screamed in agony.

Dante pressed the warm barrel of his gun directly against Franco’s forehead.

"Who ordered you to touch my wife?" Dante asked, his voice low, raspy, and lethal.

Franco gasped for air, staring up at his Don in absolute terror. "Don... Don Salvatore... he said... he said she was a liability..."

Dante’s jaw tightened. He swung the butt of his heavy pistol sideways, knocking Franco unconscious onto the wet street.

Then, Dante turned slowly to face Isabella.
