Chapter 1 - THE WIFE WHO HEARD EVERYTHING|

I was six months pregnant with IVF triplets when I overheard my husband bragging that none of the babies were mine. He had secretly implanted embryos from three different women into my womb, then laughed about using me as his personal incubator. But just as I discovered his horrifying plan to take all three babies away, the door swung open...

I stood outside the private VIP lounge at the St. Regis Hotel, clutching three precious 3D ultrasound pictures against my chest.

I'd come to surprise my husband, Harrison, during his business lunch with old college friends. Instead, I heard something that nearly brought me to my knees.

"Man, Harrison, you're a freaking genius!" someone laughed. "Getting your own wife to carry three babies from three different women without her knowing? That's next-level crazy!"

My fingers froze around the photographs.

What the hell was he talking about?

Another man chuckled.

"Harper doesn't want pregnancy destroying her figure. Madison can't carry a baby because of her uterus. And Audrey's dead. So you tricked Chloe into carrying all three embryos?"

"Exactly," Harrison replied.

I recognized that voice instantly. The same voice that whispered I love you every night while rubbing my swollen belly.

"Chloe thinks those babies are hers," my husband continued casually. "My doctor handled everything. She never suspected a thing."

My heart slammed against my ribs.

For six months, I'd endured relentless nausea, terrifying complications, sleepless nights, and agonizing injections. I'd cried tears of joy at every ultrasound, believing those three little heartbeats were miracles we'd created together.

And now...

"Wait," one friend interrupted. "So what's the plan after delivery?"

Harrison laughed.

"Harper gets her baby. Madison gets hers. Audrey's family gets the third. Everything's already arranged."

My knees nearly buckled.

"Chloe's just doing what she's useful for," he added coldly. "She's my wife. Being an incubator is the least she can do."

The ultrasound pictures slipped from my trembling hands.

One landed facedown on the expensive carpet.

Another man sounded uneasy.

"What happens if Chloe finds out? She could leave you."

Harrison burst into laughter.

"Leave me? She's six months pregnant with triplets! Where the hell is she going?"

His friends laughed with him.

"Besides," he continued, "she's so desperate to be a mother, she'd believe anything I told her. She's not smart enough to figure this out."

I pressed my fist against my mouth, swallowing a scream.

Anger burned through me so fiercely that my entire body shook.

He hadn't just betrayed our marriage.

He'd stolen my right to know whose children I was carrying.

Suddenly, a vicious pain ripped across my abdomen.

I grabbed the wall, struggling to breathe.

Not now. Please, babies. Not now.

I had to escape before Harrison saw me.

But as I bent to retrieve the scattered ultrasound pictures, I heard footsteps approaching from inside.

"Hold on," Harrison said sharply. "Did someone just move outside?"

May you like

The brass doorknob began turning.

And I was still standing there, one hand gripping my pregnant belly, with the evidence of my shattered life scattered at my feet.
